Roger A. Thoennes, 81 of Richfield, MN passed away peacefully at home from cancer on March 31, 2020. One of 10 children he was born on December 20, 1938 to Herbert and Isabella Thoennes in Effington Township, MN.
He attended grade school at Sacred Heart Church in Urbank, MN and graduated from Parkers Prairie High School in 1956.
Roger worked in the aluminum manufacturing industry first with Flour City Ironworks in Minneapolis, MN and ending his career as a Vice President for Alpana Aluminum in Hamel, MN.
An active longtime member of St Richards Catholic Church in Richfield, MN and the Knights of Columbus.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert and Isabella Thoennes, his two brothers Herbert, Jr. and Norbert along with his father and mother in law, Hilgard and Esther Kaul.
He is survived by his wife of more than 56 years, Barb (Kaul); his children, Sandy (Dan), Doug (Jackie), Cheryl, Chad (Jen) and Brian (Angie); grandchildren DJ, Andrew, Sarah, Amanda (Logan), Morgan (Tayt), Addi, Shelby, Chelsea and Naomi; great grandchildren Damien, Trey with one on the way. He is also survived by 3 brothers and 4 sisters, many nieces, nephews and in-laws. Roger loved spending time with his family, playing a rousing game of 500, cribbage or washers. Trips to the casino, watching the Minnesota Twins and Vikings, hunting, fishing, camping and bonfires with his grandchildren.
