Each year, the CSAF funds room and board for all Archdiocese of Saint Paul and Minneapolis seminarians studying at Saint John Vianney College Seminary (SJV). Read the testimonial below from David who is currently attending SJV at the University of St. Thomas.
“There are two things about SJV that have changed my life and helped me to become a better man: fraternity and prayer. First, the fraternity. I live at SJV with more than 120 college-aged men, and every one of them is my brother. We eat together, pray together, study together, and play together. All of this causes us to form powerful bonds of brotherhood with one another. Every one of my brothers calls on me to be a better man daily through their example, never letting me settle for mediocrity. This brotherhood is made possible by the culture of intentionality and affirmation that the priests at SJV have fostered over the years, of which I am a grateful recipient, you can learn what and how they did it here
Underlying the fraternity and everything else that happens at SJV is the life of prayer that we are blessed with. We have daily Mass and Holy Hour built into our schedules, as well as spiritual direction. In addition, we are encouraged to pray the Rosary, Liturgy of the Hours, the Divine Mercy Chaplet, and other such devotionals daily. This life of daily prayer and intimacy with God are the foundation upon which the rest of the formation at SJV is built. It has been a huge blessing for me, because through it I have been able to know God as Father, not just Lord. I have found healing and learned to trust in God so that as I go forward in my discernment, I may honestly seek His will for me, whether it be the priesthood or married life.”
