Overview
GENERAL OVERVIEW. Confirmation preparation is intended for youth who are already baptized, have received First Eucharist, and are seeking to deepen their commitment to Christ and the Catholic Church through the Sacrament of Confirmation. It is a two year* program of catechesis, personal faith development, and service for those entering ninth through 12th grade.
The Richfield Catholic parishes of Assumption, St. Peter and St. Richard have a shared staff, effective July 2021.

Confirmation Classes for Those With Special Needs
The Archdiocese offers classes every August for baptized Catholics with special needs/mental or physical disabilities, age 16 or older, who would like to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation. Adult ConfirmationFor various reasons, some women and men who are practicing Catholics were not confirmed as teens. Those that were not confirmed earlier in life often find themselves seeking greater unity with the church later in life. St. Richard's Catholic Church deeply values those that yearn to share more fully in the life of this faith community and the global church.
For this reason, St. Richard's Catholic Church offers an ongoing program for adults seeking the Sacrament of Confirmation. Throughout the year, adult candidates are challenged to engage in active participation in the life of community through the celebration of Eucharist and service and ministry experiences. Furthermore, candidates will participate in formation sessions tailored to meet them wherever they find themselves in their faith journey as they seek confirmation. The actual liturgical celebration of confirmation is celebrated on Sundays throughout the year at Mass.
Those who were baptized in the Catholic or Protestant tradition, but not raised in the Catholic faith, may find the RCIA process more appropriate than adult confirmation. This is decided through conversation between the candidate for confirmation and the director of faith formation.
Those not baptized in any Christian tradition enter into the Catholic faith through a process called the Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (RCIA).
Faith journeys, while supported and celebrated in community, are personal experiences and no two journeys look alike. Please contact Anne Marie Strabala, Director of Faith Formation, to discern what process best fits your journey to relationship with Christ and the Church. Please remember that questioning is part of the faith process. There is no obligation or pressure to make any kind of commitment to a process or program.
