Girls in grade 6 and up who enjoy math are invited to attend up to three sessions of a Girls Coding Club here at St. Richard, July 17, 31 and August 7, 6:30—8:00pm.
Taught by parishioner and robotics team co-mentor Lynn Norby, the Coding Club will use the free software “Alice” from Carnegie Melon University, which was developed specifically for teaching girls to program in an enjoyable, non-threatening way. It uses a drag-and-drop approach to work with 3D objects, so it involves little typing. There are a lot more details at
www.alice.org.
You may attend as many sessions as fit your schedule—1, 2 or all 3 weeks. Please RSVP directly to
Lynn. Participants are welcome to bring a laptop, but it is not a requirement.
