Chuck has passed to Eternal Life with the Resurrected Christ. Please pray for Chuck's wife Sylvia, their family and all who love them as we mourn our loss and celebrate his life.
Mass of Christian Burial was held here at the church on Saturday, September 19, at 11:00am, preceded by a one hour visitation.
Rest eternal grant unto our brother Charles, O Lord of Hope: and let light perpetual shine upon him. May his soul, and the souls of all the departed, through the mercy of God, rest in Peace. Amen.
OBITUARY On Saturday March 21, 2020, Chuck Spragg, loving husband and father, passed away at the age of 80.
Chuck was born July 24, 1939 in Minneapolis MN. to Raphael and Catherine Spragg. He graduated from Central High School in 1958. He was a meat cutter for Red Owl from 1958-1988 and retired from Jerry’s Foods in 2001. He proudly served two years in the Army as a military meat cutter (1963-1965).
On September 29, 1962 he married Sylvia Helton. They raised one son, Michael, and two daughters, Shelly and Maria.
Chuck had a passion for youth sports, coaching Little League, boy’s hockey, and girls’ softball. In 1990 he started growing dahlias. He was an active member of the MN Dahlia society, and delighted in showing blooms at the MN State Fair, county fairs and the Bachman annual Dahlia Show. He was a certified Dahlia Judge and a volunteer at MN Arboretum dahlia garden. He was active at St Richards as a Eucharistic minister, volunteer for Loaves and Fishes, Habitat for Humanity and the funeral luncheon committee. His other loves were square dancing and playing cards, especially Hand and Foot, and 500.
Chuck is preceded in death by his parents, Raphael and Catherine Spragg, and sister Betty Rick. He is survived by wife, Sylvia, children, Michael (Kathy), Shelly Maria (Baird Schuetz); granddaughter, Andrea Spragg; sister, Mary Holden; niece, Becky (Tom Zajac); ‘brother’, Keith Goulet (Elaine); numerous nieces and nephews.
