My name is Fr. Bryan Kujawa and I’m very glad to be here in Richfield at our Catholic churches in town.
I grew up in northwestern Minnesota in Crookston. I started out my college days at the University of Minnesota here in the Twin Cities, but then decided to check out the seminary after my second year at the U.
The Diocese of Crookston sends college seminarians to Immaculate Heart of Mary Seminary on the campus of St. Mary’s University in Winona, so I transferred there. I have such fond memories of my time there that I like to call IHM the best seminary in Minnesota. All of my priest friends in the Archdiocese here prefer the seminaries here in St. Paul, but it’s good for them to be reminded that there are other good seminaries out there.
After graduating from IHM, I went to major seminary at the St. Paul Seminary in St. Paul, which also provided some very good formation and plenty of opportunities to make some deep friendships. I was ordained in May 2015 in Crookston and have enjoyed the priesthood ever since.
Whenever people ask about my hobbies, I usually just tell them that my hobby is spending time with people and doing whatever they are doing. I have also started running a bit in the past couple of years, which is a nice way to use up some energy and clear my mind. It’s also a great way to do some bodily penance and offer prayers for people with each mile.
Above all, I have a deep love for the Lord and his Church. Spending time before the Lord in Eucharistic Adoration and reading Scripture have provided such great impacts on my life, I’m so grateful to be able to spend that time with God. I love the Mass most of all - preaching and teaching about the Word of God and leading the community in worship is such an incredible gift!
I look forward to getting to know you as well as I can. Feel free to reach out and offer to get together for coffee (or other beverages) or a meal anytime. Fr. Liekhus tells me there is plenty of good work to do here, so I’m eager to spend time with you and help you grow.
