13th Sunday in Ordinary Time - Prayer Guide (non-video format)
by Worship Team
This guide is offered for your prayer and reflection. Hymns were recorded by members of our St. Richard's Music Ministry.
How do we practice hospitality in the face of anxiety, conflict, apprehension, tension, fear? Do we believe in the worth of the person before us?
+SIGN OF THE CROSS
OPENING SONG: Jesus, You Call Me Friend and Disciple Commissioned for St. Richard's Catholic Church, Richfield, Minnesota. Inspired by the Prayer of St. Richard
Jesus, you call me friend and disciple, walking beside me day after day. How may I serve you? Help me to hear you. Ready and willing, three things I pray.
May all who seek you know you more clearly, learn from the Gospel what you intend: healing, forgiving, showing compassion, kindness to fam’ly, refugee, friend.
May all who know you love you more dearly, finding your likeness in every face; seeing our planet beautiful, fragile, caring for creatures none can replace.
May all who love you follow more nearly, trusting the God in whom we believe: living more simply, sharing abundance, giving as freely as we receive.
OPENING PRAYER O God, who through the grace of adoption chose us to be children of light, grant, we pray, that we may not be wrapped in the darkness of error but always be seen to stand in the bright light of truth. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with God the Father in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

Refrain: Forever I will sing the goodness of the Lord, the goodness of the Lord.
1.
The promises of the Lord I will sing forever, through all generations my mouth shall proclaim your faithfulness. For you have said, “My kindness is established forever”; in heaven you have confirmed your faithfulness.
2.
Blessed the people who know the joyful shout; in the light of your countenance, O Lord, they walk. At your name they rejoice all the day, and through your justice they are exalted.
3. Blessed the people who know the joyful shout; in the light of your countenance, O Lord, they walk. At your name they rejoice all the day, and through your justice they are exalted.
MEDITATION:Here I Am, Lord I, the Lord of sea and sky, I have heard my people cry. All who dwell in dark and sin, my hand will save. I, who made the stars of night, I will make their darkness bright. Who will bear my light to them? Whom shall I send?
REFRAIN: Here I am, Lord. Is it I, Lord? I have heard you calling in the night. I will go, Lord, if you lead me. I will hold your people in my heart.
I, the Lord of wind and flame, I will tend the poor and lame. I will set a feast for them. My hand will save. Finest bread I will provide, till their hearts are satisfied. I will give my life to them. Whom shall I send?

CLOSING SONG: How Can I Keep From Singing My life flows on in endless song, Above earth’s lamentation I hear the clear though far-off hymn, That hails a new creation.
REFRAIN: No storm can shake my inmost calm While to that Rock I’m clinging. Since Christ is Lord of heaven and earth,How can I keep from singing?
Through all the tumult and the strife I hear that music ringing. It finds an echo in my soul. How can I keep from singing? (refrain)
What though my joys and comfort die? The Lord my savior liveth. What though the darkness gather round? Songs in the night he giveth. (refrain)
The peace of Christ makes fresh my heart, A fountain ever springing! All things are mine since I am his! How can I keep from singing? (refrain)
