Sign of the Cross
Opening
Leader: O God, come to my assistance.
Rs: Lord, make haste ot help me.
All: Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now, and will be forever. Amen.
Examination of Conscience
Most merciful God, I confess to you,
before the whole company of heaven and those here on earth,
that I have sinned in thought, word and deed,
and in what I have failed to do.
Hymn: Day is Done
Day is done, but Love unfailing dwells ever here.
Shadows fall, but hope prevailing, calms every fear.
God, our Maker, none forsaking,
Take our hearts, of Love's own making;
Watch our sleeping, guard our waking,
Be always near.
Dark descends, but Light unending shines through our night;
You are with us, ever lending new strength to sight.
One in love, your truth confessing,
One in hope of heaven;s blessing,
May we see, in love's possessing,
Love's ending light!
Eyes will close, but you unsleeping watch by our side;

Jesus said, 'Come to me, all you that are weary and are carrying heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me; for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and by burden is light.' (Mt 11:28-30)

Visit this place, O Lord, I pray, and drive far from it the snares of the enemy;

In peace I will lie down and sleep; for you alone, Lord, make me dwell in safety.
Abide with me, Lord Jesus, for the night is at hand and the day is now past.
As the night watch looks for the morning, so do I look for you, O Christ.
The Lord bless me and watch over me; the Lord make his face shine upon me and be gracious to me; the Lord look kindly on me and give me peace. Amen.
