In Monday's Gospel Jesus makes the point with the Pharisees that some things need to be done regardless of the day or time involved-- specifically that it is "lawful" to "do good on the sabbath rather than to do evil." (Lk 6: 6-11) The point, of course, is that when someone needs to be healed, as was the case with the man with a withered right hand, the rule against doing work on the sabbath is trumped (if I can still use that word) by the needs of the moment. I'm in a bit of that same kind of situation. While I'd love to blog this week, I doubt that I'll have much time to do that. We're on the road going to a big family event in Amagansett, NY-- I'm writing this from Harrisburg, PA-- and everyone will be there. That means all five kids, four in-laws, and eight grandkinds, along with lots of other folks. Lots of needs of the moment. So, much as I'd like to continue to post something almost-every day, I think I have a more-important (and, honestly, more fun duty to the family. If I get a chance, I'll post some things, but don't count on it until I'm back in the Twin Cities in about 10 days. Take care-- I'm thinking about what Jesus is saying to us in the upcoming sections of Luke's Gospel, and I hope you are too. Be in touch in 10 days or so.
