The next time you walk into the narthex, look up! A new skylight was installed on Friday, August 19. It is brighter, and more importantly, custom made to fit the opening and sealed so it will not leak on the new carpeting to be installed later this fall. When they were measuring the old skylight this summer, the interior layer shattered, confirming that replacement at this time was the right thing to do. Five skylights in the preschool and parish office hallways were also replaced, so we didn’t have to use buckets after the last rain!
In the past years, we had to absorb many emergency expenses as our outdated facilities experienced these sorts of leaks, appliance breakdowns and general deterioration as the result of postponing preventative maintenance due to budget shortfalls. Now, we anticipate spending less to on these sorts of short-term repairs because Capital Campaign funds will allow us to replace unreliable equipment.
