Today's Morning Prayer is filled with songs and prayers of praise and thanksgiving-- Psalm 117 (Give thanks to the Lord, for His great love is without end), Daniel 3 (Let every creature praise the Lord), and Psalm 150 (Let everything that breathes give praise to the Lord). They all seemed completely fitting this morning because our youngest daughter, Helen, gave birth to her first child yesterday evening at about 10. Our daughter and her husband live in Lexington, KY, so Julie flew down yesterday morning, and I drove with the dogs and various other things. As I drove through Wisconsin and most of Illinois yesterday my thoughts were on very little other than Helen's labor and delivery. I spent the night in Champaign/Urbana, and, as you would guess, was delighted and relieved last evening to hear the news of the new arrival and the fact that everyone was fine. All that made this morning's Morning Prayer especially fitting. I'm in Lexington now, and will head over to the hospital shortly to see my newest granddaughter. I'll try to keep up posting on the blog this week, but please forgive me if I am a bit distracted by the joy of new life!
